Yezdi D 250 Classic: 1982 Model by Ideal Jawa Company
First Look
I was searching for Jawa / Yezdi or other rare and vintage models from last few months and the search was getting difficult as very less vehicles are available now a days. Scraping these vehicles is a profitable business as scrap venders are getting profited by selling loose parts of these vehicles then selling whole bike. Non availability of documents is also a major problem and the main reason behind scrapping the vehicles, as these (Jawa, Yezdi) vehicles are mainly available in villages and due to negligence loosing documents is a common problem. Non availability or spare parts and low mileage is another problem.
Need Some Kicking, Gaowalo jor se
So, after searching for and finding Few old Bajaj Scooters, Rajdoot 3 and 4 gear motorcycles and few Yezdi’s ( without paper) I finalized to purchase either Jawa or Yezdi motorcycle. As Jawa’s are rare and if available not a single document is available, I decide to go for Yezdi and fortunately found it in a village on Aurangabad Road. The vehicle is having all papers and it was in running condition, so I decided to purchase it.
One Early Saturday we moved for the village and after brief discussion with the owner of the vehicle ( the token money was already given by one the friend of my cousin brother) we got the vehicle in hand. Though it was in running condition, the outline of vehicle was in a very bad shape and was rusty. After changing clutch cable, adding oil and doing some point setting (Most important task) we started towards Nasik. The beast was running fine and it achieved speed of 90 km/hr at one point. Looking at its condition, we never imagined that it will catch that speed.
Painting work
Upon arrival in Nasik, it was the time to find an excellent mechanic to renew the vehicle and after discussing and visiting few mechanics we find Babuji, (Babuji Garage, Falke Road) expert in Jawa and Yezdi bikes. After hearing very good feedback from few of my relatives and friends, I hand over the vehicle to him and as per my anticipation, the work got done excellently and the results are in front of us.
Babuji and Rajabhau giving final touch
While renewing the bike we changed rear mudguard and Tyre and tube, inner rings of gasket, few show parts and lots of small parts which the no. is around 50-60 parts.
It took 4-5 days to get the bike back in hand, in excellent condition and shining sharply. Although few parts we kept as it is ( bend Pipes, rims and front Tyre) to reduce the increasing cost.
Now, i am using the beauty daily and its adding a pleasure to use such an excellent powerful and rare bike. It so unfortunate the company Ideal Jawa has closed down and we are missing these excellent machines .
Amazing!!!but what was the cost of the makeover? I am on a hunt for a similar vehicle an d would to know about the feasibility of it.please contact me on ashutosh2405@gmail.com or leave message for me on FB on my page ashutosh2405
