Fort Sudhagadh

Fort Sudhagadh is Near Pali Ganpati, in Raigad District, Maharashtra. It's a fort covered with thick jungle and deep valleys. The forest is still dense and we can find various species of plants and trees , including plants needed for Ayurvedic medicine treatment.

History: This fort was chosen by King Shivaji as a Capital of Maratha empire due to its position, straight walls, protection of other small forts around it, dense jungle and worst road for enemy. But due to some reasons he declared Fort Raigad which is more powerfully build than Sudhagadh as a capital, but this fact does not affect on the importance and place of Sudhagadh.

Way to the fort: We can go to the fort from three to four differnt routs, but Pacchapur road is good for vehicles. we can park the vehicle around and start climbing. There is a ladder fixed by forest department, to enter in the outer periferal of the fort. On the fort we can see big temple, Hanuman temple, Wada( Home) of Pantsachiv, which is still in good condition etc. Overall it is a really good treak, we can climb down from another route from the rear side and after a half circle to the fort again we can reach to our vehicle.
