Fort Malhargadh

(Main entry of the fort)

Fort Malhargadh is situated in Saswad taluka in Pune District. It is the most young fort in Maharashtra built in the regime of peshwas. it a small fort with two temples, one water tank, few wells and underground routs ( now closed).

( Rear Entry )

The stone used to build the fort is not a great quality and one can find the difference between stones used to build walls and Buruj. 'Buruj' near front door is made from good quality black stone. Compare to to it the walls are from local stone, used for the fortification. One can find a 'Nedhe', or a hole carved in the rock due to strong wind. This is near the main entry of the fort. Such kind of 'Nedhe' we can find on the fort Ratangadh in Ahmednagar, although the nedhe on Malhargadh is vry small.
Routs: Three routs are there to enter in the fort, one is from Jhendewadi, second one is from Sonori village and third on is from Loni Kalbhor from ramdara, which is a tiresome trek for new trekkers. ( Nedhe)

Animals you can see: Deer, Wolves, Peacock, Mangus, Sneaks and sometimes Leopard.
