MP Diaries Part 5: Maheshwar As a Tour Operator I had visited many places and very few places are there where I wish to visit again and Maheshwar is one of it.  Ghat of Maheshwar  Maheshwar is a beautiful town situated on the bank of River Narmada.  The wisely chosen second capital of Holkar Clan by Sadhvi Ahilyadevi.  The main wada (Palace) is on the bank of Narmada River with high walls of Bastions to protect it from outsiders and also from the fast moving water of Narmada.  The wada is still intact and is under Richard Shivajirao Holkar Sarkar family and has been converted in to 5 star resort.  One can visit the place from where Sadhvi Ahilyadevi used to look in to daily matters of her Kingdom. Moving towards Ghat on River , we can see the beautiful Chhatris of Holkar family members. Chhatri  Happy Wife  Sahastradhar  Old Name of Maheshwar is Mahishmati Nagari where Sahastrarjun used to rule. The story of blocking water of Narmada River by him and Nar

Omkareshwar

MP Diaries Part 4: Omkareshwar Flat Face and Flat Belly Boats on Narmada River  Beautiful bluish crystal clear water, crowd of small flat end boats and chanting of Narmade Har, yes this is Omkareshwar.   The entry starts with extra amount on entry charges and few locals following you or guiding you on bikes to show you parking place and showing you boats. Just like other holy Hindu places the area is full of agents who will try to earn a little by offering help.   On our visit these locals tried to help us to fix the boat, Guruji to do Abhishek ( Pooja) in temple and even to find the hotel to have lunch. Ghat and Temple of Omkareshwar   Whatever.. the beauty of Omkareshwar is enchanting and the strong flow of River Narmada attracts mind of person. The temple is on the right bank of Narmada River and is surrounded by small temples and other old houses. The location is beautiful and one must visit it in lifetime.   Would love to write more but do not wish to enter in

Ujjain: The Holy Place

Image
MP Diaries Part 3: Ujjain:   Bharat Mata Mandir Ujjain  Is a city of temples. Another cleanest cit I saw after Indore. Famous for its temples of Mahakaleshwar which is from 12 Jyotirlingas, Kal Bhairav temple where Spirit (Liquor) is offered as a chadava to God Shiva.   And few more temples like Bhrutuhari (Nephew of Gopichand) and caves etc.   Few points noted in Ujjain are 1) Another clean city 2) Good approach roads 3) The temples were very old which were destroyed in attacks of Arab invaders 4) Current temples are built by Ranoji Shinde and Shinde clan of Gwalior hence one can find impact of Maharashtraian culture and   architect on it.   Maharashtrian Style Architect of KalBhairav Temple  Do visit Ujjian in your next travel plan.   #MPTourism #DeccanTravelCorporation #GroupTours #Tours

Mandu: Beautiful Place

Image
Rani Roopmati Pavallian  Mandu : Now a days a famous Hill station but in old days last Fort on the boundaries of Malwa and Nemad. Kings like Raja Bhoj and Parmar dynasty ruled this Fort for many centuries. After the attack of Allaudin Khilji in 11th century in went under many saltanats and under Mughals. The famous story of Bajbahaddar and rani Roopmati is from the same Fort. It is biggest Fort in India with perimeter of 72 kms. Many many old structures, few are in best preserved condition by  # MPT ourism  and hundreds are in waiting to be restored as it is a mammoth task. Nilkanth Mahadev Temple  Mandu is may be a more beautiful place in winter and in rainy season. Regret that forest office is there but didn't saw any particular good work by forest department. Huge deforestation happened and happening. Good point is beautiful roads. Looks like there is synchronization in MP govt, MP Tourism and ministers. All the roads to tourist attractions are in beautiful condition
