MP Diaries Part 2: Indore
Chhatri of Holkars

Financial hub of Madhya Pradesh and cleanest city in India. Just to admire the cleanliness one should visit the city. Especially Politicians and Government officials who plan Europe tours must visit the city.
Sarafa

The important city of Malwa was capital of Holkar Family (Chief founder person was Malharrao Holkar, who was a sardar in the army of Kadambande and later started working under Peshwa. He was one the trusted and powerful general of Maratha army in North India) After death of his Son Khanderao Holkar in Kumbheri Fort, his Daughter in law Ahilyabai Holkar ruled the area for many years. She was a famous Lord Shiva Devotee and across India from Rameshwaram to Haridwar she rebuilt 29 important temples which were destroyed by Muslim attackers and Sultans. She also built many Ghats on important rivers and drinking water wells for people and animals. Due to her strong social and religious works, in respect people call her Sadhvi, Rajmata Ahilyadevi. True example of Queen who devoted her life to improve the living standards of citizens. Amazingly she declared herself as a protector of Kingdom and not as a ruler.
Temple in Wada

Indore has been capital city of Holkar clan and one can see many wadas (Maharashtraian style houses) and beautiful buildings in old city.
Food, clothing and culture are few things if you are interested in. The sarafa market (Gold Market) which closes by 9 pm turns in to Food hub which attracts thousands of food lovers from all the directions. Holkar Chhatris, Zoo, Central Museum, Rajwada Palace and White Church are few more attractions to visit.
